Prepared For A Good Start

Happy New Year's Eve!

I've worked this week to get set up for my new weight loss journey.

I went out and bought new walking shoes.  I went to a podiatrist back in 2023 who made the suggestion that I not wear my shoes forever regardless how well they look, lol!!  She also recommended some brands, with Brooks topping the list.  I immediately bought two pairs and was amazed the difference it made.  I realized in the past week that the Brooks still look great but I've been wearing them for almost 3 years.  I was well overdue for a new pair.

Another brand recommended was Saucony.  I went to the shoe store and wasn't finding any Brooks that caught my eye so I went to the Sauconys.  Not only did several suit my taste but I was able to buy two pair at the cost of one pair of Brooks.  I was very happy!!  I went to another store and bought some ankle boots that are water resistant for those dog walks in the rain and snow.  It was a productive shoe day.

So, re-signed up for WW; bought new walking shoes; started a new blog; got a weight loss partner; starting a walking challenge tomorrow; and Kickstart starting next week..... I say I'm off to a good start!

Just a reminder:  KICKSTART is starting January 5th and it's not too late to sign up.  It's totally FREE unless you choose to purchase the Kickstart Journal/Workbook to go with it.  You do not need to purchase these, you may choose your own journal, plain old notebook or nothing at all.  This time around I'm going with nothing at all - I just lose interest with the journals.

Before the Start of a New Year

Because we're at the end of the year and a lot of us, myself included, will be starting on a weight loss journey; I felt I needed to do a post.

To start always remember:

Diet:  the kinds of food that a person, animal or community habitually eats

Willpower: the ability to control ones actions, emotions or urges

Regardless which you've chosen to follow (Weight Watchers, Healthi, Noom, Nutrisystem, Atkins, Keto, etc..) remember it's a program and the food you eat on the program is a diet.  So don't listen to those who constantly yell "it's a lifestyle change not a diet" because it is in fact a diet...what you are eating is a diet.

You do need willpower for your program.  You need willpower to overcome your bad habits; once you can do it, they will become good habits.  Follow your program, use your willpower and the good habits will come.

As I've mentioned before, I don't do resolutions or goals.  I feel they are either pass or fail.  I do tries.  I just try to do better than I've done before.  I'm always a work in progress.  My tries for the year are: tracking, staying on program, walking, water and just using all that for better habits.  I'll achieve some of these daily, some not....but I'm trying and that's what matters.

We will work this together, a day at a time.

Happy New Year!

The Big 6 - 0

So I turned 60 in January and it was pretty uneventful.  My one co-worker took me to lunch and then CC took me to dinner and movie with popcorn!  We always do that for each other on our birthdays - dinner and a movie.

CC and I had been talking about doing small trips on occasion; and since this was a big birthday for me...she gifted me a weekend trip!  We're going to Evans City, PA!!  LOL!  That may not mean anything to many of you; but it's where the movie Night of the Living Dead was filmed and we've always talked about driving up to see the cemetery, museum and the mall where Dawn of the Dead was filmed.  We'll also be close to Pittsburgh plus roadside attractions along the way.  We're heading there the weekend of June 7th and just discovered there will be a "Living Dead" convention at the mall!!  We are so excited and got tickets for that.  No HUGE celebrities but it will be fun anyway.

On the Weight Watchers front....  as I mentioned, I rejoined and have been going to meetings.  Hubby told me just to skip coming home from work and just go straight there.  He'll handle all the pets at home.  It'll put me there early, but there's plenty of shopping all around!

Another thing....I bought this:

It's a walking pad; basically a treadmill without the holding bars.  Now I have no weather excuse for walking!  In case you're interested:  Deer Run Treadmill.

So What Is "My WW+ (My Weight Watchers Plus)

Don't panic!  Weight Watchers hasn't changed how points are calculated, nor have they added a new diet plan or brought back an old one; but they are going more digital and have 4 plans for you to choose from now:

Digital - is exactly what it has always been; on your own with the app.

Digital 360 - this one is a little confusing; from what I'm reading you get the app plus access to live & taped videos from inspiring coaches 24/7.  This does not include zoom meetings.

Unlimited Workshops Plus Digital - this one includes the app plus in person meetings (if you can find one) and the zoom meetings.

1 on 1 Coaching - You get a personal coach to help you with your journey.

You can go here for pricing and such:

ALSO:

LIFETIMERS NOT AT GOAL - You know, like me!

You should not be paying more than $14.95 a month while not at goal.  Yep, that was a surprise to me as well!  However, you will need to call, private message on FB or email them to get set up.  It's helpful to have your Lifetime number available!  If a rep tells you they no nothing about this; disconnect and try again!  I did mine through private message on their FB page; it was very simple.  I sent a message saying I had heard this and gave them my Lifetime number, they messaged back asking for my log on id, date of birth and zip code, I sent them that, and they sent me a link with a code.  Now, it wouldn't let me do it because I'm locked into my current plan until January 9th (WW offered me 2 free months) but they assured me that at that time it will let me use the code.  Just to prevent a double charge; I'll probably cancel the day before I'm to be charged regular price and then re-sign up via the link and code.

I always thought WW should offer lifetimers not at goal a special price!
